About
The person behind the camera.
I’m Jordan BJ Jefferson, photographer and creative director of Avery Creative Studio, a Chicago portrait studio built on direction. You don’t have to know how to pose. That’s my job.
The studio
One session becomes many.
Avery Creative Studio started with portraits: families, individuals, people marking a milestone. Over the years the work grew with the clients. Someone comes in for a headshot, then brings their family. A family session turns into a birthday, then a brand shoot.
That’s the kind of studio this is meant to be. Every session is planned around the person in front of the camera, photographed on one of our two studio sets, and retouched by hand, so the photos still feel like you years from now.
How I work
Three things you can count on.
Direction
You’re never left guessing. Every pose, expression and outfit change is guided, from the first frame to the last.
Detail
Two purpose-built sets, considered lighting and hand retouching on every image you choose.
Relationship
Most clients come back. I keep the process easy so the next session feels like picking up where we left off.
